Are you wondering how to make an awesome interview that will captivate all audiences? Follow the steps and you'll be able to tell a great story!
-
Before you can write out good questions to ask someone who you are interviewing, you need to gather all the information you can.
Once you know who this person you’re interviewing is, it’s a good idea to write down what you want from the interview.
-
Don’t let the interviewee simply answer “yes” or “no”.
You want to create a dialogue which means use open-ended questions to gain knowledge on a subject.
-
Parrot your subject and repeat phrases.
Reflection questions that make your interviewee look back and share a story or example are great to keep things going and give you useful information.
-
Write down a few questions you want your subject to answer, and that you know the answer to.
Answer these questions before your interview.
-
Just like open ended questions, you’ll want to come up with a few that will get you an emotional response.
This will create more audience engagement as they read the story.
-
Include a curveball.
If you notice that you’re writing a lot of the same questions, you may want to search for one that’s different.
-
Look over all of your questions and rephrase ones that still need a little work, or that don’t help you reach your objective.
This will help to get to the heart of the important information.
